Welcome to my world of sculptural and functional ceramics. I came to play with clay, later on in my artistic practice. I was determined to be a painter. During my visual art degree at McMaster University, I discovered the world of sculpture. I had the opportunity to work with clay. I was hooked! It is a medium that allows the artist of any age to fully engage, experiment and play! I truly believe that it has the ability to temper anxiety and stress. The minute I have clay in my hands I can feel my tensions ease. I see this with my students as well. It is powerful.
My ceramic work ranges from conceptual sculpture to functional, everyday use. My thoughts on clay at this point is that a bisque fired bowl, or tray or cup, becomes a surface for me to draw on. The glazing process is like my painting process. I hand draw all my own designs and glaze them individually. Yes, this takes time. I am not a production ceramicist. I rarely repeat designs but the color palette is very defined at this point.
I am currently making bowls, cups and trays. I have started to develop some ceramic jewelry pieces as well.
If you are interested in my ceramic work, please let me know. I would be happy to let you know what I have in stock and what I am working on.
conceptual, sculptural ceramicsThis sculptural ceramic work is guided by themes of loss and regeneration. Inspired by nature, floral, coral, trees, rocks, water. I seek to find serenity amongst the chaos.

functional ceramicsMuch of this work is inspired by free-form sketches I do during anxious times. I allow myself to draw without agenda. I find these shapes and patterns translate well onto the clay surface.
